Doffermyre Shields Canfield & Knowles, LLC's practice is limited to litigation, almost exclusively complex civil cases for plaintiffs. Our primary areas of specialization are listed to the left. While our practice is quite diverse, there is one unifying thread that runs throughout our cases. We represent businesses and individuals who have been wronged.

The founding of our firm in 1990 brought together a blend of two separate traditions in the law -- plaintiffs’ personal injury cases and sophisticated business litigation. This blend reflected the interests and strengths of our lawyers, but also offered real benefits to our clients. As our practice has expanded, the benefit to clients from our diversity of experience is even greater.  We bring to cases skills developed in difficult lawsuits between major corporations, an ability to quickly evaluate the merits of litigation, and an unusual willingness to use contingent fees.  We also focus on the desired result for the client rather than the litigation process.

We offer our clients the resources of a much larger firm and the benefits of broad experience gained in handling significant cases across the country. Yet, due to our small size and style, we are committed to individual attention and work closely with our clients throughout the course of a matter.
